Mr Ken Anson
Consultant Urological Surgeon
Ken Anson has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon at St George’s University Hospital since 1998 where he is now Clinical Lead for the Endourology Unit. After qualifying from St Bartholomew’s in 1985 and subsequently gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons England, he completed his specialised training at the Institute of Urology. During his specialist training Ken was awarded the Clifford Morson Prize from the Institute of Urology for outstanding work and research.
In addition to his expertise in all aspects of urology Ken is widely regarded as an Endourology specialist particularly in the surgical management of urinary stone disease. Ken has published extensively on many areas of urology and lectures both nationally and internationally on these topics. Alongside his clinical work he has recently been appointed as an Assessor for the Intercollegiate Examination in Urology, he is the Royal College of Surgeon’s representative for the speciality examination board for urology and examines internationally as well. Ken is also a trustee of both the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the British Journal of Urology International.
Another passion of Ken’s is teaching and training. He is a regular faculty member of national and international skills courses and is a Reader in Urology at St George’s University Hospital. Ken has also contributed to several media campaigns and worked with the Urology Foundation charity.
Outside of work Mr Anson can be found fly fishing for salmon, skiing, sailing or walking his flat coat retriever!
