Mr Dan Wood
Consultant Urological Surgeon
Dan Wood qualified from St Bartholomew’s medical school in 1994 before completing his specialised training at University College London Hospital. Dan trained at both Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London Hospital before being appointed a Consultant Urological surgeon at UCLH in 2008.
In addition to his experience in all aspects of urological conditions Dan specialises in adolescent urology, congenital urological anomalies and urological reconstruction. He regularly treats congenital conditions such as bladder exstrophy, posterior urethral valves, neurogenic bladder and cloacal anomalies as well as bladder dysfunction and differences in sexual development.
Dan is heavily involved in both research and education. He is an Editor of the Journal of Pediatric Urology whilst also editing several books, writing numerous chapters and publishing in many areas of urology. He is the Educational Supervisor for UCLH Urology, Chairman of the Urology Consultants at UCLH and has served as the training programme director for urology. As part of his love for teaching Dan lectures both nationally and internationally in his specialist areas.
Outside work Dan’s passions are running and cycling – he has completed eight marathons to date!! And if he’s not out running he might be practicing some tunes on the guitar!
